Position: Volunteer Member – Planning Commission

Location: Syracuse City Hall, Council Chambers, 1979 W 1900 S, Syracuse, UT 84075

Meeting Schedule: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month starting at 6:00 PM

Compensation: $50 per meeting

Position Overview:

Syracuse City is seeking motivated individuals to join the Planning Commission as volunteer members. The Planning Commission consists of seven members, appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council, who are responsible for shaping the growth and development of our community. We also appoint two alternate members who will serve as voting members in the absence of regular members.

Planning Commission members represent a diverse mix of professional and vocational backgrounds, contributing valuable insights and expertise to the City's development and land use policies. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of the decision-making process that shapes Syracuse's future!

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend regular meetings scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 PM.
• Participate in discussions and decision-making regarding development proposals, land use, zoning regulations, and other planning matters.
• Review and evaluate materials related to planning and zoning applications and present recommendations to the City Council.
• Engage with fellow members and the public to ensure transparent and inclusive planning processes.

Qualifications:

• Must be a resident of Syracuse City.
• Interest in urban planning, zoning, or community development.
• Ability to review planning materials and make informed decisions.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to engage in collaborative discussions.

Compensation: Each Planning Commission meeting attended will be compensated at $50 per meeting.
