About the Opportunity: 

The Planning Engineer is responsible for extracting data from customer documents such as purchase orders, drawings, and specifications. This role drafts travelers and identifies quality requirements and determines the production process of the circuit board. 

What You'll Do: 

  • Reviews customer drawings and specs to extract manufacturing requirements; evaluates manufacturability and flag risks 
  • Evaluates purchase orders and contract review to extract flow-down, quality, and compliance requirements 
  • Reviews sales orders and customer profile notes for special instructions; ensures instructions are incorporated into traveler 
  • Determines appropriate production process and routing for the board and recommends manufacturable solutions when constraints exist 
  • Enters accurate process instructions in ProCIM and drafts traveler instructions; verifies prior steps and release readiness 
  • Generates stack-ups and impedance model, when needed, depicting layer structure and material usage; verifies layer counts and special material requirements 
  • Creates clear work instructions for CAM drill program; ensures downstream teams understand required processing 

What You'll Bring:  

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the PCB industry, preferably in planning or process engineering 
  • Must have knowledge of flex/rigid-flex circuits  
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Working knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes 
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical and electrical blueprints, GERBER Data, CAM files, etc.  
  • Must be able to interface with customers regarding engineering issues 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working with government and military clients and knowledge of required specs
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, or Manufacturing Technology 
  • Proficient in Valor Genesis  
California Pay Range
$30—$44 USD

The actual compensation offered is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant business considerations.
