About the Role:

Were seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional with expertise in the International Fire Code and NFPA codes to join us as a Commercial Plans Reviewer. In this role, you will be on the front lines of public safety, reviewing construction documents for new commercial properties - including site and utility plans - and new building construction, renovations, additions. Your expertise will ensure every design meets the highest fire and life safety requirements of local, state codes and NFPA standards - protecting lives and property with each project you touch.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure clarity on requirements and provide guidance on code compliance.
  • Preparing detailed reports and documentation that reflect your findings and assessments.
  • Collaborating with fire inspectors to address any issues or discrepancies that arise during construction.
  • Staying ahead of the curve on evolving fire codes and NFPA standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field, along with significant experience in building design and/or construction.
  • Firm understanding of International Fire Code as published by the International Code Council (ICC) and knowledge of NFPA standards.
  • Must obtain certification as a Building Plans Examiner or Fire Plans Examiner by the International Code Council or as a Certified Fire Plan Examiner by the National Fire Protection Association within six (6) months of employment.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field and at least two (2) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Special Requirements:
  • Must obtain certification as a Building Plans Examiner or Fire Plans Examiner by the International Code Council or as a Certified Fire Plan Examiner by the National Fire Protection Association within six (6) months of employment.
