Plant Controller

Job Description:

Now hiring an experienced and strategic Plant Controller to support the financial operations of a well-established manufacturing facility in Aroostook County. The Plant Controller will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cost analysis, and capital project accounting for the facility. This employee will work closely with the Plant Manager and leadership team to provide financial insight, support strategic planning, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, extensive accounting knowledge, and prior experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
 

Responsibilities:
 
  • Lead and manage the monthly financial close process to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and ensure all close procedures are completed correctly.
  • Monitor accrual accounts and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate the annual operating plan and budgeting process in partnership with plant leadership and department managers.
  • Analyze operational spending requests and validate financial assumptions to support budgeting decisions.
  • Assist with preparation and financial review of capital appropriation requests and major repair projects.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and evaluate the financial impact of proposed capital expenditures.
  • Oversee capital project accounting, close-outs, and post-project financial reviews.
  • Collaborate with auditors and corporate departments to support audits, compliance initiatives, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare financial reports, operational analyses, and other documentation for plant leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by plant leadership.

Job Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related field required.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, industrial accounting, or plant financial management strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and operational finance principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with leadership teams across departments.
