The Opportunity

A global paper manufacturing company is looking for a Plant Controller to own plant-level financial operations end to end. You'll serve as the primary financial partner to plant leadership, driving cost improvements and supporting the strategic decisions that shape operational performance. This is a high-visibility role for a manufacturing finance professional ready to take full ownership and make a real impact.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Lead the month-end close process, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements, including budget and forecast variance analysis
  • Maintain general ledger integrity through journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and discrepancy resolution
  • Oversee standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold — including excess and obsolete inventory analysis
  • Analyze manufacturing variances across labor, overhead, efficiency, scrap, and rework, and partner with operations to improve performance
  • Lead plant budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing financial modeling and insight to support business decisions
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements; support internal and external audits
  • Evaluate capital investments through ROI analysis, support CAPEX planning, and track project performance alongside plant leadership

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing finance environment
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and month-end close
  • Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit support
  • ERP experience required; SAP strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, slicers, and data analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Power BI, Longview, BOBJ, or Serrala preferred; SuccessFactors a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and meet deadlines
