Plant Maintenance Technician

Education

• High School Diploma required.

• Technical school training must be a combination of classroom study and shop experience.

• Technical school coursework must include no fewer than six hundred fifty (650) hours in a mechanical field.

• Cooperative education programs that provide on-the-job experience with business and industry may be substituted for either work experience or shop experience.

Experience

• Up to one (1) year of experience preferred.

• Must have a background in the mechanical field which includes either:

• One (1) year of training in a technical school in a mechanical field and one (1) year of experience; OR

• Three (3) years of documented experience from previous employer(s) performing mechanical duties.

• Six (6) months to one (1) year of on-the-job training required to attain proficiency in the performance of assigned duties.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Must be able to perform work involving the repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment.

• Knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and repair procedures.

• Ability to troubleshoot, inspect, repair, and maintain facility equipment.

• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize assigned tasks.

Licenses & Certifications

• Must possess valid licenses as required.

• Must be able to operate and drive vehicles as required.
