Job Title: Plant Manager

Compensation: $150,000 - $165,000 (based on qualifications)

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the safe, compliant, and high‑performing operation of the Gurnee Plant, with overall accountability for manufacturing, engineering, logistics, supply chain, and quality functions. The role provides senior leadership to deliver site strategic objectives while operating in a process‑safety‑critical environment and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO, and food‑contact GMP requirements. The position partners closely with Customer Experience and Commercial teams to support strong service performance, customer outcomes, and effective resolution of customer complaints and fluids supply chain cases. This role requires strong financial acumen to manage plant budgets, KPIs, capital projects, and change management initiatives, along with experience in Lean manufacturing and structured problem‑solving. The position demands a flexible, adaptable leader with excellent communication skills who can engage effectively from the shop floor through the executive level, supported by strong computer literacy and familiarity with ERP systems and standard business tools.

Main Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Materials Planning, Warehouse & Distribution, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Own end-to-end fluids supply chain performance, including S&OP, production and capacity planning, and material strategy, ensuring reliable, responsive supply aligned to customer demand.
  • Partner with Customer Experience leadership to drive high customer satisfaction, fast and effective complaint resolution, and disciplined management of customer cases impacting fluids availability and service.
  • Deliver OTIF performance to request and promise at or above group targets, with optimised lead times and service levels.
  • Own total site cost performance and productivity, driving sustained year-on-year improvement in cost, efficiency, and asset utilisation.
  • Ensure world-class standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across all operations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, DEA, export controls, customs, and group standards).
  • Provide executive oversight of hazardous materials management, solvent handling, waste, and emissions control.
  • Establish a high-performance operating culture supported by continuous improvement, visual management, and data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with quality systems and customer requirements, including EuPIA GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and food-contact standards.
  • Develop and execute capital and investment strategies that support growth, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Lead site strategic planning aligned to 3-year and 5-year business horizons.
  • Provide executive sponsorship for New Product Introduction, ensuring manufacturing capability and scalability.
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline through talent development, succession planning, and cultural leadership.
  • Lead enterprise change initiatives, including implementation of MES and cloud-based ERP systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversees the daily workflow of the department as a whole

What You Need

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree (MBA or MS) is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in chemical, ink, coatings, or related manufacturing industries for managing Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
  • Experience in a process safety critical environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ISO, and food-contact GMP requirements.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing plant budgets and KPIs.
  • Skilled in implementing and proposing Capital Projects and Change Management Programs.
  • Familiarity with Excise, Precursor & AVSEC regulations will be a plus.
  • Flexible and adaptable to react to unexpected tasks or customer demand.
  • Experienced of working in a Lean culture and could solve complex problems using structured methods.
  • Skilled and effective communicator should enjoy communicating with people at all levels, from the shop floor to the Executive Team.
  • Computer Literacy, to include knowledge of basic ERP, MS Excel, Power Point, etc.

Physical Demands

  • Light work. Light work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a small amount of force constantly to move objects. Pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching, gross/fine manipulation, driving, kneeling, crawling, and climbing may be required. Physical demand requirements are more than those for Sedentary Work.
