Purpose

The Plant Manager serves as a key member of the Americas Management Team, directly supporting the President. The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the ongoing operations and procedures as well as the efficiency of the business. The Plant Manager must ensure that all processes are defined and adhered to. The adherence to and efficiency of those processes need to be actively measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPI), which need to be regularly fine-tuned.

  • Responsible for advising the Senior Management Team on Site operation capabilities to enable the effective function of the organization.
  • Support and advise Senior Management Team on operational issues as well as timelines to solve ongoing issues.
  • Work with President and Senior Management Team to develop both short- and long-term business strategies.
  • Ensure that the core values and leadership standards are communicated and understood at all levels of the site.
  • Create and maintain a team culture that values, recognizes, and generates high performance, supports innovation and challenges the status quo.
  • Ensure the integration of new initiatives into business operations while minimizing the risk of potential negative impact on existing operations, develop financial forecasts for the site on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Develop a budget for the site, including annual capital plans and operating expenses.
  • Ensure annual budgets meet shareholder expectations by ensuring KPI's offset inflationary pressures on an annual basis.
  • Actively manage costs to ensure achievement of financial forecasts and business plans.
  • Develop and encourage a matrix management system throughout the entire site
  • Identify functional and operational best practices and leverage them to capitalize on all potential efficiency opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment and support of all operations and staff members are measured by plant performance.
  • Must have 10 years of progressive experience in operations or plant management positions within the manufacturing industry performing/utilizing the following:
  • Managing plant or project operations related to metal manufacturing, including operational Strategy, technical control and improvements and participation in Major Capital expenditure initiatives
  • Managing the execution of safety related programs including RCFA, Cardinal rule programs, Guarding upgrades, etc.
  • Management of 6S, Gemba Kaizen, ISO, TQM and Six Sigma projects.
  • Leading team(s) of employees and managers in a unionized team in critical areas in manufacturing
  • Negotiating union contracts
  • Raw Material Management and internal metal movement/logistics operations.
  • Systematic deployment of Management mid-term/long-term goals to workforce.
  • Achieving quality and production objectives and long-term goals at minimum costs within environmental guidelines and regulations.
  • Formulating key performance indicators (KPIs) and production planning
  • Determining production and process constraints and maintaining effective communication to streamline asset utilization, process flow and resource allocations within the division and across the organization.
  • Leading continuous improvements, cost control, Quality Management, and marginal improvement projects
  • Proposing inputs related to constructability of facility and infrastructure during the planning phases of projects.
  • Interacting with purchasers and vendors for global selections and availability of raw materials.
  • Roadmap and process safety modification; and capital repair plan management.
  • Utilizing Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Project, and Minitab Statistical Tools
  • Requires 25% travel to undetermined customer offices or plant locations, both domestically and internationally.
