Job Details

A growing organization within the renewable energy sector is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility. This individual will provide operational leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and drive plant performance while leading a small onsite team.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of facility operations, collaborate with internal technical resources and external partners, and play a key role in advancing sustainable energy initiatives.

What You'll Do:
Lead the daily operation of a renewable natural gas processing facility, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
Supervise, coach, and develop onsite personnel while fostering accountability and teamwork.
Monitor production performance and operational metrics to maximize plant efficiency while controlling operating expenses.
Ensure operational logs, production records, inspections, and required documentation are completed accurately and on schedule.
Prepare recurring operational reports and maintain accurate site records.
Maintain compliance with all environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Champion workplace safety by implementing training programs, reinforcing safe work practices, and leading emergency response preparedness.
Monitor employee attendance, scheduling, overtime, and timekeeping activities.
Coordinate daily work assignments, prioritize maintenance and operational tasks, and verify work is completed to established quality standards.
Partner closely with the adjacent site operator to optimize gas collection performance and maintain effective working relationships.
Establish clear communication processes with key external partners and stakeholders.
Lead routine operations meetings, safety discussions, and site planning sessions.
Assist with annual budgeting activities and monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with financial objectives.
Operate and oversee gas processing systems, process controls, instrumentation, compressors, and supporting equipment.
Perform routine inspections of plant equipment and facilities to identify operational or maintenance concerns.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, coordinate repairs, and document maintenance activities.
Promote high housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors performing work onsite, ensuring compliance with safety and operational expectations.
Collaborate with internal engineering, technical support, environmental, commercial, health & safety, and remote monitoring teams to maintain optimal plant performance.
Perform additional operational or leadership responsibilities as needed.

Ability to identify operational issues, evaluate solutions, and implement corrective actions.
Self-directed with the ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
Dependable with a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
Technical degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
Five or more years of experience in an industrial, energy, oil & gas, manufacturing, process, or similar operational environment.
Previous experience supervising or managing facility operations required; experience within renewable natural gas, landfill gas, or related energy operations is highly preferred.
Experience managing operating budgets and understanding basic financial principles.
Experience developing preventive maintenance schedules and coordinating maintenance activities.
Experience scheduling personnel and managing day-to-day workforce planning.
Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices and environmental compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely perform work in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday.
Ability to lift up to 80 pounds when necessary.
Must possess sufficient vision, hearing, and communication abilities to safely perform essential job duties.
Occasional travel may be required.
Candidates should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility to support operational needs and emergency response responsibilities.
