Summary:

As a Plant Operator you will work rotating 12-hour shifts to assist with the manufacture of specialized flow improving products utilized in crude and refined products pipelines. The Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the Process equipment. All operators are trained according to the process area in-house training program. The plant operator will receive functional guidance and report to the shift foreman on their assigned shift. Role is not limited to the above listed responsibilities and may include other duties as assigned.

 

We offer a competitive, non-negotiable starting wage of $20.00 per hour for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate production processes following authorized operating procedures, work instructions and Standard Operating Conditions (SOC).
  • Monitor all plant production and processing equipment
  • Handle / move material using forklift
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other plant personnel, including managers, engineers and maintenance specialists to encourage teamwork and coordinate tasks
  • Emphasize safety on a continuous basis.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process area, optimizing equipment efficiency, reliability, total capacity, and quality levels in unison with other area teams.
  • Maintain and optimize all procedures and work instructions related to each process area.
  • Record documentation for tracking all aspects of production using Microsoft Excel and other internal database systems.
  • Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance of equipment and systems to ensure quality. Document and coordinate with maintenance specialists when needed.
  • Proactively communicates the need for spare parts and preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product non-conformances using the Tracking Reports System, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure quality control by performing testing on products and sampling when required.
  • Assist in moving finished product from tanks to trucks using truck rack facility as requested.
  • Perform general housekeeping daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to perform/comply with the following:
    • Comply with all safety procedures and willing to maintain proper and safe process
      operations of the operating equipment. To read technical procedures and materials
      written in English and learn computer software associated with process operations
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills as necessary to perform job duties - testing provided by LSPI. 
  • Willingness to learn and use computer software associated with process operations

 

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification from an accredited school 
  • 1 or more years of experience working in an operating plant environment 
  • Plant operating process knowledge 
  • Forklift and control room experience
  • Previous experience operating valves, gauging tanks, performing maintenance on equipment 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts and requires the ability to do call out work.
  • Lift and carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb various ladders and stairs to operate valves, gauge tanks, or perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Walk, stand, stoop, sit, climb, and carry material on even and uneven terrain.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
