Midwest Prefab is seeking a Plant Production Manager to lead our growing prefabrication operation. The Plant Production Manager is responsible for leading Midwest Prefab's prefabrication manufacturing facility, overseeing all aspects of production within our prefab facility, ensuring components are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards before arriving on our jobsites.

As Plant Production Manager, you will lead a skilled production team while driving continuous improvement, production planning, quality control, inventory management, equipment utilization, and manufacturing efficiency. This position bridges manufacturing best practices with commercial construction, helping transform the way projects are delivered through off-site prefabrication. You will partner closely with Operations, Project Management, Estimating, Purchasing, and Field Leadership to ensure prefabricated assemblies are produced accurately and delivered on time while continuously improving production processes and overall performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage all daily operations of the prefabrication production facility.
• Develop and maintain production schedules that support project timelines and maximize manufacturing efficiency.
• Supervise fabrication of wall panels, framing systems, specialty assemblies, and other prefabricated construction components.
• Establish production priorities while balancing labor resources, equipment capacity, and material availability.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop production personnel to promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor production performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, productivity, labor efficiency, and on-time delivery.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve workflow.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimating, Purchasing, and Field Operations to coordinate production requirements and resolve scheduling conflicts.
• Oversee warehouse organization, inventory accuracy, material handling, and shipping/receiving activities.
• Ensure preventative maintenance programs are followed for production equipment and facility assets.
• Maintain quality control procedures to ensure prefabricated products meet company and project specifications.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets while controlling labor and operational costs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Midwest Drywall safety policies, and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for automation, technology improvements, and process enhancements.
• Follow Midwest Drywall policies, jobsite safety requirements, quality standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises Prefabrication Technicians, Warehouse personnel, and other employees assigned to the prefabrication facility. Responsibilities include onboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluations along with disciplinary actions, employee development, and workforce planning in partnership with the HR team. Responsible for fostering a culture centered on safety, quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Five (5) or more years of leadership experience in manufacturing, production, prefabrication, industrial operations, or commercial construction.
• Experience managing production schedules, labor planning, and workflow optimization.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement principles, and production management.
• Experience managing production metrics, labor performance, quality systems, and operational budgets.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.

Preferred

• Commercial drywall, metal framing, modular construction, or prefabrication experience.
• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence initiatives.
• ERP, MRP, or production planning software experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Business Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent leadership experience will be considered.
• Minimum five to ten years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, prefabrication, warehouse operations, or commercial construction.
• Experience leading production teams within a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING

• Valid driver's license.
• OSHA 30 preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
• Strong leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and employee development skills.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and quality management systems.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, shop drawings, and production specifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting production deadlines.
• Ability to work safely, maintain attention to detail, and consistently meet quality and production expectations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a manufacturing-style prefabrication facility and warehouse environment with frequent exposure to construction materials, powered industrial equipment, noise, dust, and varying temperatures. The position routinely transitions between office responsibilities and the production floor and may occasionally visit active construction jobsites with varying temperature dependent upon weather.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all Midwest Drywall safety policies, site-specific safety rules, and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Use required personal protective equipment and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, or injuries.
• Conduct routine safety observations and production floor inspections.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture throughout the facility.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

• Achieve established production, safety, quality, and on-time delivery goals.
• Maintain efficient labor utilization while controlling production costs.
• Improve manufacturing processes through Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate inventory and warehouse organization.
• Develop and retain a high-performing production team.
• Performance will be evaluated based on operational KPIs, leadership effectiveness, safety performance, production efficiency, quality metrics, and achievement of departmental objectives.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 annually. Final pay is subject to approval and may vary based on directly relevant payroll, construction payroll, union reporting, certified payroll, prevailing wage, payroll tax, systems, audit, and compliance experience; credentials; and internal equity. Eligible employees may participate in the ESOP, 401(k) plan with company match, medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off and holidays, flexible spending accounts, and company-paid life and AD&D insurance.
