Plant Production Operations Manager

Start your day on first shift leading the rhythm of the plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you’ll own the daily flow of production, organization of the floor, and the standard of housekeeping that keeps everyone safe and efficient. You’ll guide people decisions (hiring, development, disciplinary actions, and terminations) while driving output, quality, and uptime across every line.

A day in the role

  • Open the shift with a safety huddle: reinforce PPE compliance and address any hazards immediately—escalating unsafe conditions, acts, or injuries to the Plant Manager without delay.
  • Coordinate the week’s production schedule and tooling changeovers; align with maintenance to protect line availability.
  • Walk the floor: check product and resin sampling schedules, verify quality specifications, and confirm preventive maintenance on forklifts.
  • Stay connected: maintain clear communication with other manufacturing facilities and offices to synchronize materials, priorities, and timelines.
  • Manage materials: oversee raw material inventory, review Min/Max and over-allocated reports, and reconcile production samples/schedules.
  • Coach the team: facilitate training and certification, ensure proper personnel administration, and promote a positive, transparent work environment.
  • Optimize performance: troubleshoot equipment/process issues, and drive each production line to meet or exceed standard efficiencies.
  • Handle purchasing: manage operating supply buys using the internal PO system or company credit card in line with policy.
  • Invest in growth: maintain and build your skills through company and external training programs; understand and follow company policies and procedures.

What you’ll bring

  • Leadership and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop teams.
  • Mathematical aptitude and inventory management experience.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency; knowledge of operating systems covering Inventory and Production functions.
  • Familiarity with BOM-driven products and production equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Drive to build complete knowledge of all company products.

Education and preferred background

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Supervisory training/experience.
  • Preferred: Basic industrial maintenance/mechanical training or equivalent.

Work conditions and physical requirements

  • Stand and remain mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours.
  • Perform physical work in temperature extremes (hot or cold).
  • Handle materials daily using hands, arms, and legs to move finished goods.
  • Full range of motion daily: twisting, bending, reaching, squatting; ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles.

Schedule

First shift; flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required.
