Job Summary

The Plant Repairperson is responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of the ready-mix concrete plant as well as other miscellaneous work that needs to be performed including but not limited to the electrical systems, feeders, screens, conveyors, etc.

Compensation

$37 Probationary pay - $42.50-$53 post-probationary pay scale

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance to ready mix plant machinery, including but not limited to batch plants, motors, conveyors, electrical equipment, etc.
  • Inspect, service and report the condition of machinery needing repair; maintain a service log
  • Rebuild or fabricate parts and repair electrical equipment
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools to repair, adjust, and dismantle equipment being repaired and/or installed
  • Read and interpret technical manuals
  • Coordinate ordering with purchasing team parts from approved vendors
  • Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary; use loaders to move and lift parts into place
  • Must always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas
  • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures and requirements

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Welding and cutting experience is necessary
  • Will be required to work overtime and weekends as business needs determine
  • Must be able to work in a heavy industrial environment; exposure to weather elements, dust, noise, etc.
  • Some work will be performed in confined spaces and at extreme heights
  • Physical requirements: standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, crouching, stooping, bending, feeling, balancing, sitting, and frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong communication, written, and oral skills
  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment including safety glasses, respiratory protection, safety belts, gloves, etc.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations
  • Work independently and lead a team
  • Ability to operate loaders and various other types of mobile equipment preferred
  • 3 years’ experience as a mechanic in the ready-mix/concrete industry is preferred

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. In accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, for work that will be performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
