PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, headquartered in Andalusia, AL, is a generation and transmission (G&T) electric cooperative with 22 distribution members - 18 electric distribution systems and four municipal electric systems - in Alabama and northwest Florida. JOB SUMMARY & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The purpose of this position is to perform preventive maintenance and minor corrective maintenance activities at the Central Generation facilities and participate in operation of hydro units. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. The applicant must make an acceptable score on the preemployment placement exercise. The incumbent must successfully participate in the Power Production Employee Training and Development Program curriculum. Working conditions include working twelve (12) hour rotating shifts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs preventive maintenance and assists in minor corrective maintenance of the Central Generation facilities.
• Participates in the safe operation of the hydro turbine and associated auxiliaries including reading, recording, and interpreting plant instrumentation and making adjustments as needed, and operates flood control equipment during emergencies.
• Performs routine inspections of the Central Generation facilities to detect abnormal conditions or conditions that require repairs.
• Successfully participates in and completes classroom and on the job training including observation of safety rules and practices and environmental compliance guidelines, maintaining a clean work area and identifying potential problems and hazards required for the positions and assists in training other plant technicians as required.
