Position Title: Plasterer Payroll Personnel Type: 12 Month Job Reports to: Facilities Maintenance ManagerDesignee Shift Length: 8 Hour Day Union Eligibility: Eligible

Position Summary The Plasterer performs duties with skilled work at the journeyman level in the repair, maintenance, alteration, and construction of plastered surfaces. Employees in this class are responsible for performing skilled plastering tasks according to standard practices of the trade. Work involves removing old plaster, preparing surfaces, and applying and finishing plaster. Supervision may be exercised over semi-skilled laborers. Assignments are received in the form of written and oral instructions.

Essential Functions • Plasters partitions and completely renews plastering rooms and hallways • Repairs and replaces lathing and re-plasters the surfaces • Does ornamental plastering in running cornices and installing plaster of pair ornaments • Repairs old plaster preparatory to work by painters • Patches old plaster as directed • Waterproofs walls and floors by plastering and cement • Erects scaffolds and estimates materials needed for small jobs • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Ability to work from scaffolds and ladders • Ability to observe safety precautions in carrying out assigned tasks • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions • Skill in mixing and applying plaster and in using the standard tools of the plastering trade • Ability to be organized and orderly with good attention to detail • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management • Physical Requirements • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle • Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, or crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, grasping, talking, hearing • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships • Bring objects into sharp focus and ID and distinguish colors • Medium work - exerting up to 25 to 60 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects • Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree

Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience of skilled work at the journeyman level Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the plastering trade Considerable knowledge of the methods of preparing and mixing plaster and of the properties and adaptabilities of various mixes Knowledge of the safety precautions and hazards of the plastering trade

Education High School Diploma or Graduation from technical High School required Equivalent combination of experience and training as a journeyman plasterer

Working Conditions and Environment Work is routinely performed in a typical interior-office environment Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
