Role Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Plastic Injection Molding Setup/Processing Technician in Whitewater, WI to support safe, efficient, and high-quality injection molding operations. This hands-on role is responsible for mold setup, machine processing, troubleshooting molding issues, optimizing cycle performance, and supporting production teams to ensure consistent part quality and uptime.

The ideal candidate has prior experience with plastic injection molding machines, mold changeovers, processing adjustments, and troubleshooting molded part defects in a manufacturing environment.

Job Details

  • Position Type: Full-Time/Hourly (Non-Exempt)

  • Work Location: Onsite – Whitewater, WI

  • Pay: Competitive – Discussed during screening and interview

  • Multiple Shifts Available:

    • 2nd Shift: 2:55 PM – 11 PM

    • 3rd Shift: 10:55 PM – 7 AM

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, setup, and calibration of complex machines and equipment, ensuring precise alignment with operational specifications for production

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to optimize machine performance for specialized production runs and implement necessary adjustments

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on critical equipment issues, resolve complex malfunctions, and adjust settings to ensure maximum efficiency

  • Conduct in-depth tests and inspections to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact production, ensuring minimal disruption

  • Implement corrective actions and lead preventive maintenance efforts to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and extend machinery lifespan

  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequencing, ensuring optimal production workflows

  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in machine setups and operational efficiency

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) to support machine setup, material transport, and seamless production processes

  • Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required

  • Education: High School

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a focus on equipment setup and basic maintenance

  • Certifications/Licenses: Powered Industrial Equipment preferred

Competencies/Skills

  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and ability to perform simple troubleshooting and adjustments

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and ensure machines are set up correctly

  • Ability to perform hands-on work involving manual dexterity, including the operation of tools and equipment

  • Strong focus on safety practices and adherence to all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment, following instructions and collaborating with other technicians.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds repeatedly

  • Must be able to push/pull objects up to 30 pounds

  • Must be able to work in noisy environments

  • Must have the dexterity to handle small objects.
