Plastics Molds & Packaging Sales Representative
In-Office (Mon & Fri) + travel within territory (Tues - Thurs) Perm Role


The Plastic Molds and Packaging Sales Representative works with current and prospective customers to primarily drive the sales of:

  • Custom-designed injection and thermoformed plastic molds for confectionery production
  • Custom-designed thermoformed plastic tray packaging for the confectionery merchandising
This role requires travel within the United States and Canada and is accountable for achieving key metrics that support the growth of market-wide relationships, for all mold categories:
  • Thermoformed Stock Molds
  • Thermoformed Custom Molds
  • Import Injection Molded Stock Molds
  • Import Injection Molded Custom Molds
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Sales & Business Development
  • Identify and cultivate new opportunities to achieve sales and margin goals for all mold and packaging categories.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of sales opportunities to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and margin targets.
  • Source prospective customers through research, direct outreach, and networking at trade shows, and through social media.
  • Analyze, vet, and profile prospective plastic mold and packaging customers for all mold categories and develop a custom, personal “approach” for each one.
  • Gather information about prospective customers by asking questions and listening to understand the vision for their organization, their business strategies, high-level processes, and goals.
  • Mentally match prospective customer needs to the solutions our client can provide for them.
  • Partner with prospective customers to develop plastic mold and packaging design ideas, guiding them toward workable solutions that would meet their needs.
  • Communicate with prospective customers to help them understand how their needs and wants can be met through plastic molds and packaging. This communication can happen:
    • Live and in-person at the customer’s location, at a trade show, or at our client's corporate offices/showroom/teaching lab.
    • Live and remotely via telephone and/or on-camera web conferences.
    • Asynchronously via email—as a last resort and only when necessary.
  • Conduct sales presentations and/or product demonstrations, via live in-person and/or remote communication channels.
  • Attend appropriate industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events to promote products and generate leads.
  • Engage in consistent outbound call efforts and face-to-face meetings with prospective customers generated by prospecting calls, inbound leads, and initial sales pursuit, articulating the value proposition for solutions/products aligning to the customer needs and speaking to customer-specific use cases.
  • Communicates with various departments to support the execution of new account opening, which includes working with Finance to facilitate the needed next steps.
  • Informs customers on our client's portfolio, promotions, and services available, assisting in the effort of growing the business.
  • Coordinates and ensures the involvement of internal resources, including culinary, packaging, art/design/tooling, and management resources, transportation, and pricing, to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations.
  • Negotiates pricing and/or bid support as necessary to acquire new business or regain lost business.
  • Collaborates, coordinates, and strategizes with customers and sales management to define detailed growth strategies to grow customer business.
Customer Relationship Management
  • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with customers by providing exceptional service, technical guidance, and timely follow-up.
  • Understands customer production needs, mold design requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Works closely with design, engineering, and production teams to coordinate custom mold projects.
  • Manages pricing, quoting, order tracking, and follow-through to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Understands and demonstrates our client's Core Values.
Product & Technical Support
  • Maintains deep knowledge of candy molds, materials (e.g., polycarbonate, silicone, metal), manufacturing methods, and product applications.
  • Coordinates and drives project management with internal service providers and with external suppliers/vendors through art and prototype development, tooling development, customer approvals, production scheduling, and shipping to customers.
  • Collaborate with internal engineers and equipment sales team members to translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • Provide customers with troubleshooting support and recommendations for mold care, use, and maintenance.
Market & Competitor Insight
  • Monitors industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to help guide product development and sales strategy.
  • Provides feedback to leadership regarding new product opportunities, market gaps, and emerging customer demands.

WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THIS ROLE

  • Minimum 3 years of sales experience, preferably in manufacturing, food production equipment, packaging, or related B2B industries.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to understand technical product details and explain them clearly to customers.
  • Proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace
  • Understanding of confectionery manufacturing processes, and the ability to provide product recommendations tailored to customer needs.Experience in confectionery, food production, molds/tooling, or industrial equipment sales.
  • Background working with manufacturers on custom product design or tooling.
  • Ability to read technical drawings or provide input on product specifications.
  • Ability to analyze, understand, and document potential customer needs. 
  • Ability to prioritize prospects and then move them to purchase.
  • Knowledge of effective sales and negotiating techniques, packaging market, competitors, and ability to assess opportunities in a streamlined fashion.
  • Skills to create a nimble plan of action, aggressive techniques, and a rapid go-to-market approach.
Education and Experience
  • Associate Degree in Business/Marketing or equivalent experience required
Physical Requirements:
  • Travel required (25–50%) for customer visits, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Combination of office, remote, and field-based work.
  • You will need to possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license, a current US or Canadian passport, and have the ability to travel unimpeded throughout the US and Canada. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • Required to stand for a long period of time, walk, or sit.
  • Regularly required to use hands and arms.
  • Required to communicate in English and possess basic math skills.
