Plastics Technician II - 2nd Shift

Overview:

Monday–Friday | 2:45 PM–11:00 PM

BISSELL's Chemical Packaging Plant is a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing operation where we produce and package many of our cleaning products.

As a Plastics Technician II, you'll operate and support the blow-molding equipment used to manufacture the plastic bottles for BISSELL cleaning products. This is a hands-on technical manufacturing role where you'll be responsible for keeping equipment running safely and efficiently while ensuring bottles meet quality standards.

 

You'll work with blow-molding machines and supporting equipment throughout the production process, including preparing and mixing resin, starting and shutting down equipment, monitoring machine performance, performing quality checks, completing mold changeovers, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and performing basic preventative maintenance.

 

As a Technician II, you'll also help train and develop Plastics Technician I team members on equipment operation, safety, quality standards, and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do

• Set up, start, operate, monitor, and shut down blow-molding equipment.
• Prepare and mix resin used in the bottle manufacturing process.
• Monitor equipment and production throughout the shift to identify issues before they impact safety, quality, or production.
• Inspect finished bottles and perform quality checks to ensure they meet specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment, process, and quality issues and make appropriate adjustments to keep production running efficiently.
• Complete minor mold and equipment changeovers and assist with more complex changeovers.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and identify equipment issues requiring additional maintenance support.
• Complete required production, quality, and equipment documentation.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime, scrap, and production issues.
• Train Plastics Technician I team members on equipment operation, safety, quality, and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment You'll Work With

Blow-molding machines, resin mixers, blowers, trimmers, leak checkers, grinders, conveyors, and powered industrial trucks.

Qualifications:

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma/GED or relevant experience in lieu of education.
• Previous manufacturing, machine operation, plastics, molding, packaging, or similar technical production experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning how manufacturing equipment and processes work.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and production issues.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn new equipment and processes.
• Ability to train and support other team members.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Pay range: 23.00hr to 25.00hr. 2nd shift includes a .75 cent shift premium.
