Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a skilled and dependable Plate Roll Operator to join a heavy industrial manufacturing and fabrication team in Claremore. This position is responsible for operating plate rolling equipment to form steel plate into cylinders, half cylinders, weld pads, and other fabricated components according to production specifications.
The ideal candidate has previous plate roll operating experience, understands heavy steel fabrication, and can safely manipulate materials ranging from thin-gauge steel to plate up to 1 inch thick while maintaining accuracy, quality, and productivity.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of plate roll operating experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
High school diploma or GED required
Experience working with steel plate and heavy fabricated components
Ability to accurately read tape measures, scales, and other measuring devices
Experience using powered and manual hand tools
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate plate roll equipment according to production requirements
Roll steel plate into cylinders, half cylinders, weld pads, and other fabricated components
Load, position, and align flat steel sheets in plate rolling machinery
Control equipment to achieve required dimensions, radius, and product specifications
Work with materials ranging from thin-gauge steel through 1-inch-thick plate
Participate in pre-job planning and prepare required tools and materials before production
Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and finished product accuracy
Monitor machine performance and identify potential mechanical or operational concerns
Assist with planned maintenance activities and routine preventive maintenance
Maintain adequate materials and supplies needed for daily production
Follow production schedules and complete assigned work accurately and efficiently
Assist team members and support departmental production objectives as needed
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, and safety issues promptly
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience reading blueprints, work orders, and fabrication drawings
Heavy steel fabrication experience
Experience rolling thick plate and large-diameter components
Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
Experience performing preventive maintenance on fabrication machinery
Familiarity with cranes or other material-handling equipment used with heavy plate
Physical Requirements
Ability to safely lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs unassisted using proper lifting techniques
Ability to stand and walk for 8 or more hours per shift
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and material handling
Sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to safely operate equipment and inspect finished components
Manual dexterity to operate machinery, hand tools, and measuring devices accurately
Ability to safely perform all assigned duties while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Heavy industrial manufacturing and metal fabrication facility
Regular operation of plate rolling machinery and related fabrication equipment
Hands-on work involving steel plate ranging from thin gauge through 1-inch thickness
Exposure to industrial noise, dust, heat, heavy materials, and production equipment
Safety-focused environment requiring consistent attention to equipment operation, material movement, and product quality
