Platform Architect Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Platform Architect to join our technology team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise platform solutions that enable scalable, secure, and resilient business applications across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. As the subject matter expert and escalation point, you will drive architecture standards, deliver strategic projects, and partner with engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure our platforms support innovation, compliance, and operational excellence.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Architecture Design & Standards Own end-to-end platform architecture, cloud, on-prem, hybrid, including infrastructure, middleware, network, telecom, integration patterns, and automation frameworks. Define document and enforce configuration standards, security controls, versioning, and compliance policies across platforms and environments. Develop standards, system documentation artifacts, such as High-Level Diagrams, Low-Level Diagrams, Data Flow diagrams, SOPs, etc., to ensure consistent documentation across the platforms. Lead solution design for platform solutions, including but not exclusive to resiliency, automation, and observability.
• Evaluate and select platform technologies, tools, and patterns aligned with enterprise strategy and best practices. • Partner closely with the Enterprise Architecture team to align platform designs with enterprise architecture principles, reference architectures, and long-term technology strategy.
• Collaborate with the Security team to embed security-by-design, threat modeling, identity access controls, and compliance requirements into all platform architectures and standards. • Work in alignment with DevOps teams to define and standardize CICD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code patterns, automation frameworks, and operational best practices.
• Participate in and contribute to architecture review boards to review and approve platform designs and standards.
Implementation Operations & Tier 4 Support
• Provide Tier 4 diagnostics and resolution for complex platform incidents, infrastructure, middleware, automation, security. • Help develop solutions to configure, monitor, and troubleshoot using platform-native and third-party tools, e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Prometheus, Grafana.
Platform Integrations & Enablement
• Design and optimize integration flows, self-service capabilities, and developer experience outcomes. • Oversee integration with business applications, third-party services, and internal tools, enable extensibility and automation. • Provide program leadership for platform adoption, track roadmaps, SLAs, and usage metrics.
Governance Documentation & Collaboration
• Maintain comprehensive runbooks, SOPs, diagrams, and inventories, infrastructure maps, API catalogs, security policies. • Deliver technical and admin training and knowledge transfer to engineering operations and business teams. • Partner with Network Security, Middleware, System, Database, DevOps, Operations, Service Desk, PMO, and Application teams to ensure secure, scalable, and integrated platform services.
Qualifications and Education
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience. • 5-10 years in platform architecture, infrastructure engineering, and platform operations. • Demonstrated breadth across platform domains, cloud, on-prem, hybrid, automation, integration, security, and different workloads (OLAP, OLTP, batch). • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible). • Hands-on with CICD, API gateways, service mesh, monitoring, logging platforms. • Expertise in platform security, compliance, and audit readiness. • Practical knowledge of integration technologies (REST, GraphQL, event-driven automation frameworks), developer enablement, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs). • Excellent communication, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management skills. • Experience with platform governance, policy enforcement, and operational best practices. • Familiarity with ITIL framework.
Salary Range: $135,000 - $180,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on multiple factors, including employee knowledge and experience, role scope, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
