JOB SUMMARY
HCA Healthcare is seeking an experienced, motivated Platform Engineer to join the HCA Expanse Alerting Response Team (HEART) to assist in maintaining High Availability of the HCA MEDITECH Expanse and Magic platforms. HEART will combine alerting and monitoring tools for both MEDITECH and the Google Cloud infrastructure to facilitate preventive and proactive resolutions that minimize impact to the facilities and patient care. HCA’s MEDITECH platforms are vital for patient care and therefore will be monitored 24x7. HEART is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the infrastructure and resources that support the MEDITECH applications and Google Cloud Platform.
Work schedule is Monday - Friday 11 pm to 7 am Central Time.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Administer and maintain HCA’s MEDITECH Expanse GCP Platform and HCA’s MEDITECH Magic platform.
• Ensure maximum resiliency, reliability, and availability of all MEDITECH Expanse systems and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot, MEDITECH and GCP technical support issues.
• Monitor, Maintain, Upgrade and Patch GCP and VMWARE Virtual Machines proactively.
• Analyzing environment for changing optimization.
• Strong customer service and written and oral communication skills are required for working with multiple teams and Vendors in complex environments
• Problem management skills are required to effectively meet business objectives and delivery of support models.
• This position will interact daily with Project Management Teams, Business Partners, Vendors, and key stake holders.
• Handle hardware start-ups and shut-downs, perform basic trouble-shooting and diagnostics, quality checks and changes, ensuring everything is safe, secure, and up to standards meeting SLAs and SLOs.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners or vendors.
• Develop, document, and manage enterprise technical standards alongside the Cloud Center of Excellence for the use, deployment, support, and governance of cloud technologies.
• Develop documentation for Knowledge Base Articles to aid future troubleshooting efforts.
• Write other documentation as needed to support tasks like: process and procedures documents for operational support, lessons learned, diagrams, systems administration guidelines, systems set-up documentation, hardware integration test plans and results.
• Participates in internal technical meetings. Utilizing analytical ability, strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
• Must have a customer first support mentality.
• Support OS environment running one or more databases including SQL, Oracle, DB2, Cache, and Postgres desirable. Work with DBAs and understand their requirements are necessary.
• Use of Infrastructure Automation/Configuration tools and DevOps mentality valuable.
EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of Operating systems including Windows Desktop, Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of MEDITECH.
• Knowledge of PowerShell and other scripting solutions.
• Exposure to Enterprise size computing platforms and technology.
• Exposure to networking topologies and network protocols including LAN/WAN technologies, TCP/IP, Cisco Switches, and routers.
• Ability to troubleshoot Windows Server and Network connectivity.
• Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments.
• Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING
• Must be able to lift server components to build, rack and configure servers.
• Some afterhours work will be required.
