Job Title: PLC control engineer -- Automation engineer
Location: Mason, OH -45040
Duration: 7 Months

Willingness to travel 80%, work nights and/or weekends
They will be traveling (up to 80% of the time), they do need a valid driver’s license, however we usually give them T&E.
Domestic, within US. If they can travel to CAN or MX would be a plus but not mandatory.

They are responsible for being the primary electrical and PLC control system owner for an assigned project. As a software team leader, they will mentor some of the best and brightest in our industry while driving the technological choices behind complex automated control systems. You will be part of a group of highly committed professionals who provide expertise and ensure the success of engineering projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Client Office experience (Word, Excel, Office 365, etc.)
  • Knowledge of UL, NEC, and NFPA 70E
  • Ability to mentor and lead other Controls Engineers
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Proficient with Allen Bradley Studio 5000
  • 7 years of PLC experience/automation programming
  • Safety control system experience
  • Fieldbus knowledge (Profibus, EthernetIP, ControlNet, etc.)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel 80%, work nights and/or weekends
  • Prior work experience in the industry
  • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Schneider/Modicon experience
  • Experience traveling to Canada or Mexico is a plus
  • Experience in leading complex engineering projects

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor Controls Engineers
  • Conceptualize, design, engineer, and execute projects from start to finish
  • Develop complete and concise system Description of Operation (DOO), test plans, and user guides
  • Interface with industry-leading customers
  • Define and purchase electrical devices including sensors, VFDs, and PLC components
  • Design and engineer VFD and PLC control panels using AutoCAD Electrical tools
  • Integrate cutting-edge bar code reading technology to track and sort cases
  • Deliver successful material handling solutions by developing and implementing detailed commissioning plans
  • Attend all project-related turnover meetings, functional design reviews, and team meetings
  • Fully understand scope, budgets, and schedules for the project
  • Review initial project schedule and identify gaps or changes needed
  • Maintain and track issues list, reporting to Supervisor/Manager as required
  • Perform PLC Code reviews
  • Complete all in-house testing and emulation
  • Provide site/field reports daily, including progress, issues, and next steps, as requested
