PLC Controls Engineer II

Our client, a leading industrial automation and material handling solutions provider, is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer II to join their team. As a PLC Controls Engineer II, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting the Automation and Project Delivery teams. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer II (6-month contract)

Location: Mason, Ohio (100% onsite when not traveling; ~90% travel across the U.S.)

Pay Range: $45.00 – $50.00 per hour

What’s the Job?

• Lead automation projects for material handling systems, including PLC programming and system implementation
• Develop, test, and commission PLC code both internally and onsite at customer locations
• Review AutoCAD layouts and electrical schematics to support system design and programming
• Manage project scope, timelines, and deliverables while coordinating with cross-functional teams
• Execute system testing (FAT, UAT, BUAT) and ensure compliance with engineering standards

What’s Needed?

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 4+ years of Controls Engineering experience in a similar environment
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff) and HMI systems
• Experience with material handling systems (e-commerce/warehouse automation)
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 85–90%
