Growth Opportunities Within a Stable Industrial Manufacturing Environment

About the Role
A growing industrial manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on PLC & Controls Programmer to support automation systems, electrical controls, and industrial equipment operations.

This position combines PLC/HMI programming, electrical troubleshooting, panel fabrication, system testing, commissioning, and customer support. The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, working with automation technology, and supporting equipment from concept through startup. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate looking to launch their career or a technician with a few years of hands-on experience ready to grow within a stable organization.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Controls

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs, HMI interfaces, VFDs, and industrial control systems.
  • Support system integration, commissioning, startup activities, and ongoing automation improvements.

Electrical Systems & Troubleshooting

  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using multimeters and diagnostic equipment while verifying system functionality.

Panel Fabrication & Testing

  • Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and electrical assemblies.
  • Complete point-to-point wiring and ensure systems meet quality and performance standards.

Customer & Project Support

  • Provide technical support to customers and assist with troubleshooting, integration, and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to support successful project completion.

Qualifications

We are open to candidates at two levels — what matters most is that you bring the right combination of education and hands-on knowledge, whether that comes from the classroom or the field.

Entry-Level Candidate

  •  2-year technical degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, Automation, or similar discipline (4-year is fine too, but the 2-year technical degree is the minimum)— required at this level
  • Coursework or lab experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, or industrial control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with a genuine interest in automation and troubleshooting

Experienced Candidate

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and industrial automation
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical control systems independently
  • Experience with industrial control panel assembly, wiring, and commissioning
  • Technical degree or equivalent vocational/trade certification preferred

Preferred for Both Levels

  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms
  • Exposure to HMI programming, VFDs, industrial communication networks, and control devices
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and best practices
  • Background in manufacturing, automation, process equipment, or industrial machinery

Who Will Thrive in This Role
Enjoys troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems
Has hands-on exposure to PLCs, HMIs, drives, and industrial automation — whether through school or work
Is comfortable working both independently and as part of a project team
Takes pride in building, testing, and commissioning reliable control systems
Thrives in hands-on industrial and manufacturing environments

Work Environment
This position operates in both office and industrial manufacturing environments. Candidates should be comfortable working around production equipment and machinery while following all safety requirements. PPE may be required in designated work areas.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb as required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to perform detailed electrical and mechanical troubleshooting activities
  • Ability to work in manufacturing facilities and customer locations as needed

Schedule
Full-Time | Monday – Friday
Occasional overtime and travel may be required based on project needs.
