Seeking an experienced PLC Programmer with strong automotive manufacturing experience and mandatory exposure to Ford Standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting industrial automation systems in a high-volume automotive production environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, debug, and troubleshoot PLC programs for automotive manufacturing equipment and automated production systems.
- Support PLC commissioning, equipment startup, validation, and production launch activities.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs, including applicable ControlLogix and CompactLogix platforms.
- Work with Ford Standards and Ford-specific controls, automation, and manufacturing requirements.
- Troubleshoot industrial automation, electrical controls, sensors, actuators, I/O, motors, and production equipment.
- Configure and troubleshoot HMI systems, industrial networks, and communication between automation devices.
- Diagnose PLC logic, equipment faults, interlocks, sequencing, and production downtime issues.
- Collaborate with controls engineers, electricians, maintenance technicians, OEMs, integrators, and manufacturing teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, cycle time, uptime, and production efficiency.
- Maintain and update controls documentation, PLC backups, electrical changes, and system configurations.
- Provide hands-on controls support in an automotive assembly / manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Proven professional experience as a PLC Programmer, Controls Engineer, Controls Programmer, or similar automation role.
- Ford Standards experience or exposure is required.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and Rockwell Automation controls platforms.
- Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, debugging, commissioning, and equipment startup.
- Experience supporting automotive manufacturing, automotive assembly, body shop, paint shop, powertrain, or related automated production environments.
- Working knowledge of HMI programming, industrial controls, electrical systems, and automation equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, I/O documentation, and equipment specifications.
- Experience diagnosing production equipment and automation issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Flat Rock, Michigan for the duration of the 5-month contract.
