Job Summary


The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment within the healthcare facility. This role ensures that all plumbing systems function efficiently, safely, and in compliance with building codes and facility standards. The Plumber works independently or as part of a team to diagnose issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and respond to urgent repairs to support patient care and facility operations.


Essential Functions


+ Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems, including water supply lines, drainage systems, medical gas piping, and other facility plumbing components.

+ Troubleshoots plumbing issues, diagnosing and repairing leaks, clogs, pipe breaks, and malfunctioning fixtures.

+ Performs preventive maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment, ensuring proper operation and compliance with local, state, and federal plumbing codes.

+ Assembles, installs, and tests new plumbing components, including sinks, toilets, water heaters, pumps, and backflow prevention devices.

+ Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan plumbing installations and modifications.

+ Monitors and maintains medical gas distribution systems, ensuring proper function and adherence to healthcare safety regulations.

+ Works collaboratively with maintenance teams, contractors, and other facility staff to coordinate plumbing-related projects and repairs.

+ Maintains accurate records of work performed, inspections, and system status, ensuring documentation meets regulatory requirements.

+ Responds promptly to emergency plumbing calls, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations and patient care.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ Complies with all policies and standards.


Qualifications


+ 2-4 years of experience in plumbing maintenance, installation, or repair required

+ Experience in healthcare, commercial, or industrial plumbing systems preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


+ Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, piping materials, and installation techniques.

+ Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for plumbing installations and repairs.

+ Understanding of medical gas systems and infection control protocols in healthcare environments.

+ Ability to troubleshoot and repair leaks, clogs, drainage issues, and fixture malfunctions.

+ Familiarity with local, state, and federal plumbing codes, ensuring regulatory compliance.

+ Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to diagnose plumbing issues efficiently.

+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively, responding to emergency calls and prioritizing tasks effectively.

+ Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized plumbing equipment.


Licenses and Certifications


+ PLUMBER - Licensed Plumber issued by state required
