Position OverviewPAE is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Fire Protection Engineer II to join our team in a hybrid office environment in our New York office. This role is designed for an engineer with a strong technical foundation who is ready to take on more complex design responsibilities. Working under the guidance of a Lead Engineer, you will contribute to the design of fire protection and plumbing system layouts, sharpen your skills in technical specifications and interdisciplinary coordination, and play a key role in moving projects from initial design through site implementation while ensuring all deliverables meet rigorous quality standards.ResponsibilitiesPerform AutoCAD/Revit system engineeringDesign and plan fire protection system design and layouts under the direction of a lead engineerDetermine fire protection and plumbing system requirements for various building typesThorough understanding of mechanical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and energy modelingPrepare project deliverables with attention to detailRead plans and specifications, develop the skills to edit/write specificationsDevelop the ability to understand other disciplinesApply building codes, industry standards and fire protection principlesPerform engineering calculations and equipment selection based on calculated load requirementsInteract with clients and other project team membersSupport the project lead in developing options of probable construction costsContribute to site visits and prepare reportsImplement the project quality management plan (QMP)Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experienceMinimum of 1–2 years of mechanical, fire protection or equivalent experienceNICET certification in Water‑Based Systems Layout (Level I or higher) and/or Fire Alarm Systems (preferred)Knowledge of fire protection systems, engineering principles, and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to othersWorking knowledge of NFPA standards and their application throughout all project phasesSkilled in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite, with proficiency in fire protection modeling software such as HydraTEC or AutoSPRINK for hydraulic calculations and system layoutAbility to identify issues, analyze complex situations, and develop practical and compliant solutionsStrong organizational abilities with a focus on accuracy, quality, and efficiency across project tasksCompensation & BenefitsHiring Base Salary Range: $89,800–$109,700 annualThis position is eligible for time and a half overtime payEmployer paid health insurance (medical, dental, vision)Annual 401k profit sharing based on company profit for the year and account contributionProfessional development reimbursements including state registration and professional association duesEmployer paid commuter/parking stipendCell phone stipendLife insurance and disability benefitsHybrid work scheduleEmployee Assistance Program9 paid holidays including an additional employee‑selected dayPaid time off for sick leave, family leave, community service, holidays and vacationTo learn more about our comprehensive benefits package, visit Employment OpportunityIn order to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions at PAE will be based on merit, qualifications and abilities.
