Role Overview

The Plumbing Superintendent leads and coordinates plumbing construction on multifamily and commercial projects throughout the Phoenix, Arizona metro area. This role is responsible for one or more trade groups across multiple jobs, developing assignments, timetables, and responsibilities for the project team for the duration of each project. The Superintendent organizes and directs construction personnel, ensures materials and equipment are delivered on schedule, and serves as a field leader who provides technical expertise while driving safety, quality, and productivity.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader on projects and provide technical expertise to partners, adhering to construction processes that complete work safely and to a high standard of quality.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports through timely, complete, and meaningful performance management conversations.
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet construction schedules, using knowledge of equipment and tool capacities and assigned personnel.
  • Confirm earned value of work and the accuracy of forecasted percent completions.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform required safety observations and eliminate jobsite hazards as they are recognized to reduce safety incidents and their severity.
  • Apply Quality and LEAN principles including pull planning, six-week look ahead, value mapping, and constraint logs.
  • Budget projects by estimating worker hour requirements against the construction schedule and project budget, and provide material takeoffs, estimates, and pricing for scope changes.
  • Resolve construction problems such as productivity gaps, work interfaces, and manpower needs, and advise senior supervision and project management of potential issues, interferences, and schedule difficulties.
  • Maintain liaison with Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering, and other departments to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support craft activities and the project schedule.
  • Conduct pre-job and planning meetings so all team members understand contract terms, conditions, schedules, and any unusual project requirements.

Required Background

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints, coordination and BIM drawings, submittals, specifications, details, and job orders.
  • Strong understanding of all facets of the construction process and the ability to plan and see the big picture.
  • Demonstrated leadership, time management, and project management skills.
  • Competence in conflict and crisis management.
  • All relevant licenses and certifications required for the position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science, Building Science, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Construction Superintendent certification preferred.
  • Multifamily construction experience preferred.
