    Description

    Primary Purpose

    Help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.

    Qualifications

    Education/Certification/Licensure

    High school diploma or GED

    Master Plumber license required

    Special Knowledge/Skills

    Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

    Knowledge of methods, practices, and safety precautions of the plumbing trade

    Knowledge of plumbing codes

    Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material

    Ability to perform mathematical calculations

    Ability to diagnose and resolve problems

    Ability to use tools required for the trade

    Ability to manage personnel

    Experience

    Requirement determined by supervisor

    Major Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, plumbing, and irrigation systems in the facilities owned and operated by the district.
    • Consult with campus principals and Facility Services regarding plumbing conditions, repair work and bond related projects.
    • Schedule and perform applicable backflow preventer, eye wash, gas and safety shower testing as required.
    • Provide data base documentation pertaining to mandated testing at all facilities.
    • Prioritize and assign repair work orders to plumbing department.
    • Oversee and supervise the day to day operation of projects and employees.
    • Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure department effectiveness.
    • Recognize and report when outside assistance is needed.
    • Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase.
    • Report any safety hazards in a building.
    • Examine district's facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventive maintenance.
    • Be available for after hour demands.

    • Demonstrates proficient levels of technology applications.
    • Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.
    • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
    • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
    • Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
    • Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
    • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
    • Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
    • Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.

    Equipment Used

    Including but not limited to hand tools required for plumbing repairs, gas and electrical powered sewer machines, pipe cutter and threader, gas testing equipment, welding and soldering equipment

    Mental Demands

    Ability to maintain concentration while working around gas lines, water lines, and energized equipment; ability to maintain emotional control at all times

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

    Standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., crawling, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday; inside and outside exposure to hot and cold temperatures, fumes, toxic chemicals, and material

    Term: 230 days
