BRCC is seeking a full-time Plumbing Trades Technician to join our team to assist with skilled maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment.

Job duties:

  • Install, alter, maintain, and repair a variety of plumbing apparatuses including, but not limited to, sinks, toilets, shower units, faucets, mixing valves, recirculation pumps, water heaters, automatic faucets, and automatic flush valves, including after-hours callbacks for emergency repairs.
  • Maintain fire suppression system including system inspections.
  • Make repairs and alterations to a variety of piping systems, including repairs to pipe insulation when needed. Piping includes, but is not limited to, copper, steel, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, and PEX.
  • Clear drain lines using a variety of equipment.
  • Maintain, install, and repair appliances which includes, but is not limited to, washing machines, dryers, dishwashing machines, and water fountains.
  • Make rough sketches to create parts lists and estimate material costs.
  • Assist other trades as needed where skill sets overlap such as HVAC piping or underground electrical conduit installation.
  • Maintenance and repair tasks including furniture repair, monitor installation, floor and ceiling tile work, drywall repair and finishing, and installation of compressed air hoses for automotive equipment.
  • Assist with event set ups, office moves, snow removal and other departmental tasks.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of plumbing trade, holding a master level certificate in plumbing
  • Considerable knowledge and experience using all tools in the Plumbing Trade
  • Knowledge of Plumbing, Gas and Building Codes as related to install of water, sewer, gas and fire systems
  • Competent understanding of building systems, mechanical equipment, and facility infrastructure
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA)
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices and procedures related to plumbing
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and specifications
  • Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and work order tracking
  • Working knowledge across multiple trades disciplines
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized trade equipment
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with staff, contractors, and leadership
  • Organizational and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to document work performed, including maintenance logs and reports
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and working in elevated spaces
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and perform repairs under pressure
  • Ability to maintain a high level of safety awareness and follow established safety protocols
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including on-call or after-hours support as needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related trade, including experience reading and interpreting plans, shop drawings, and as-built documents.
  • Valid driver's license, full background check and driving record check are all required
