Strategic Capital Fuel Cycle Extension Program

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager II to support a Strategic Capital Fuel Cycle Extension Program within the nuclear utility environment.

This role will provide project management leadership for engineering analysis and licensing activities supporting fuel cycle extensions. The ideal candidate brings a strong project management foundation, experience working with technical and cross-functional teams, and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders ranging from individual contributors through senior leadership.

This is a hybrid opportunity with onsite meetings at McGuire Nuclear Station. There is some week-to-week flexibility, and for the right candidate, the corporate office in Charlotte, NC may also be an option.

Per diem is available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide project management support for the Strategic Capital Fuel Cycle Extension Program.
• Manage and coordinate activities related to engineering analysis and licensing required to support fuel cycle extensions.
• Apply established project management principles and practices throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with engineering, licensing, project controls, and other technical and business stakeholders.
• Support project planning, execution, monitoring, and overall delivery.
• Monitor project performance and help identify and address issues that could affect project objectives.
• Coordinate project activities across multiple organizations and functional groups.
• Communicate project information, priorities, risks, and status to appropriate stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.
• Interact with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels, ranging from individual contributors through senior department leadership and executive management.
• Support project scheduling and cost-control activities as required.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following experience requirements:

• Minimum 9 years of Project Management experience, OR
• Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• Graduation from a four-year college or university.
• Strong knowledge of and proficiency in project management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work effectively across multiple functional organizations.
• Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in:
  • Business Administration (MBA)
  • Project Management
  • Or an equivalent field
• PMP or CAPM certification
• Utility-related technical certifications or training
• CMII and/or construction certifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Utility industry experience
• Nuclear industry/project experience
• Working knowledge to proficiency in project scheduling and cost controls
• Knowledge of construction management
• Experience working with technical, engineering, and leadership stakeholders across multiple organizational levels

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager who can comfortably operate in a technical, highly regulated project environment and coordinate work across engineering, licensing, project controls, and leadership teams.

The strongest candidate will bring a combination of project management leadership, engineering/technical project exposure, stakeholder management, scheduling and cost awareness, with previous utility or nuclear experience being particularly valuable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to support a strategic nuclear program focused on the engineering and licensing activities necessary to enable fuel cycle extensions.
