POSITION SUMMARY
The Preventative Maintenance (PM) Technician (I,II,III) is responsible for performing advanced scheduled maintenance, inspections, and corrective repairs on natural gas compression equipment to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This role requires a higher level of mechanical skill, troubleshooting
capability, and independent decision‑making than the PM Technician I position. The PM Technician II works independently in field environments and serves as a technical resource to PM Technician I personnel while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct routine and advanced preventative maintenance on natural gas compression units, including engines,
compressors, and auxiliary systems.
Perform detailed inspections of equipment for wear, leaks, inefficiencies, and potential failures; document findings and
recommend corrective actions.
Replace filters, fluids, belts, seals, and other consumable components in accordance with maintenance schedules and
manufacturer recommendations.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and corrective repairs to restore and maintain operational efficiency.
Identify developing mechanical or system issues and proactively address them to prevent unplanned downtime.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, equipment condition, and performance trends.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, environmental regulations, and industry standards at all times.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, operations personnel, and other team members regarding equipment status,
repair needs, and maintenance planning.
Operate, maintain, and properly use tools, vehicles, and diagnostic equipment in good working condition.
Provide guidance and on‑the‑job support to PM Technician I personnel as needed.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of safety protocols and environmental compliance requirements.
Strong organizational and time‑management abilities with the ability to work independently.
Ability to work independently in outdoor and remote field conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or industrial maintenance
preferred.
6+ years of experience in natural gas compression.
Strong understanding of natural gas compression systems, production facility maintenance, and gas lift operations.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations as required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to work in physically demanding field environments, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting
equipment and tools.
Ability to lift, carry, and handle tools and components weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
Ability to work for extended periods in outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather.
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and system problems requiring analytical thinking and sound
judgment.
Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and safety awareness in high‑risk, fast‑paced operational environments.
WORK CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Primarily field‑based role supporting compression and production sites in remote and industrial locations.
Exposure to noise, rotating equipment, pressurized systems, gas, chemicals, and other industrial hazards.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times when working in operational environments.
Travel to customer locations required, including extended drives and occasional overnight stays.
Work schedules may include nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on‑call rotations.
