Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Sterling, IL

About the POSITION:

A well-established, community-focused healthcare system in Sterling, Illinois is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join its growing Outpatient Behavioral Health program.

The organization provides comprehensive healthcare services throughout northwestern Illinois and has continued to expand its behavioral health offerings, including outpatient counseling and psychiatric medication management. The system serves a regional population of more than 100,000 people and offers the resources of an established medical organization while maintaining a community-based approach to care.

Position Highlights:

  • Outpatient Behavioral Health
  • Behavioral Health / Psychiatry experience preferred
  • Willing to train the right candidate
  • No inpatient responsibilities
  • No call
  • Physician collaboration available through Tele-Psychiatry
  • 4.5-day work week
  • Approximately 12–16 patients per day
  • Established behavioral health team
  • Current team includes an NP, part-time Telepsychiatrist, and multiple full-time licensed counselors
  • Opportunity to join a growing behavioral health service line
  • Focus on psychiatric evaluation, medication management, treatment planning, and ongoing patient care

The health system's outpatient mental health program combines counseling and medication management, allowing providers to work collaboratively to support patients with a variety of behavioral health needs.
