PNT Engineer

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a talented and driven PNT Engineer to join our esteemed Sensor & Software Systems division. This exciting opportunity offers a chance to work at the forefront of cutting-edge research and development in positioning, navigation, and timing technologies.

This position is responsible for the performance characteristics, capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers to include acquisition and tracking sensitivity, time to first fix, operational limits of acceleration, altitude, and velocity, accuracy of the navigation solution, etc. This position will utilize existing COTS PNT equipment (Spirent and BroadSim satellite navigation and wavefront simulators).

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- A minimum of three years of directly related experience is required at the R2 level
- A minimum of eight years of directly related experience is required at the R3 level
- A minimum of twelve years of directly related experience is required at the R4 level
- Experience in evaluating the performance, vulnerabilities, and capabilities of existing and emerging PNT systems (e.g. GNSS)
- Experience in simulation and testing of the performance of PNT systems under various conditions
- Able to support experiments, design, and analysis efforts
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 12 years experience in RF systems; or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or related field, with 10 years experience in RF systems
- Proven experience in evaluating the performance, vulnerabilities, and capabilities of existing and emerging PNT systems (e.g. GNSS).
- Proven experience in simulation and testing of the performance of PNT systems under various conditions.
- Proven experience in planning experiments, design and analysis efforts.
- Experience in analysis on HITL systems to define and validate their performance characteristics, capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities.
- Experience in using and integrating COTS test equipment, custom designed hardware/software, and kinematic flight models to perform this characterization.
- TS/SCI Clearance
