Schedule appointments and make referrals.
Communicate and document provider's orders as appropriate.
Access and update patient information in IRIS
Prepare, update and document in medical records.
Educate patients and distribute health information.
Notify patients of lab results
Notify patient of radiology results
Notify patients of appointments
Clearing off of providers desktops for referrals, lab and radiology notification.
Schedule referrals to specialty providers or Iowa cares and fax appropriate information
Schedule testing and fax appropriate information
Answer phone calls for referral, lab and radiology questions
Return voicemail messages
Complete prior authorization forms for medications and testing
Cross reference labs requests with lab reports
Send reportable disease forms to the state when needed
BCCEDP, return paperwork to office
Follow up on missed mammograms and abnormal paps
Follow up on referral appointments and track in referral log
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Education, Training, and Skills
High School Diploma or GED.
Medical Experience preferred.
Experience and Knowledge
Clinical office experience preferred.
Ability to complete competency assessment.
Must have ability to handle confidential information on a need-to-know basis as defined by CHC.

Requires the ability to work without direct supervision. The work is in a field where only general methods or policies are defined.
Initiates and acknowledges the need to develop, revise, update and change all applicable policies and procedures to Medical Clinic Manager.
Required to communicate verbally with physicians, patients, families, caregivers and the Healthcare Team.

Requires manual dexterity to set up, test, attach and control the functions of various items or medical equipment utilized for patient care and monitoring.
