    Job Description:

    This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Podcast Production Student Assistant for the Forestry and Natural Resources Extension at Oregon State University (OSU).

    The Forestry & Natural Resources Extension Podcast Team is seeking a part-time production assistant for our Podcast, In the Woods (inthewoodspodcast.com).

    “In the Woods” is a podcast series brought to you by the Oregon State University Forestry & Natural Resources Extension program. This podcast brings the forest to listeners by sharing the stories and interviews of forest scientists, land managers, and enthusiastic members of the public. Each month, it provides research- and science-based information on a new topic related to forests, offering insight into what we know and are still learning about forest science and management.

    The program assistant will help edit, post, and advertise the In the Woods podcast.

    This position is in the Forestry and Natural Resources Extension Program in Oregon State University’s College of Forestry. For more information on the OSU Forestry and Natural Resources Extension program, visit:

    Position Duties:

    • Audio recording and editing

    • Posting podcasts to various RSS feeds and YouTube.

    • Editing closed captions.  

    • Creating simple graphics for social media.

    • OSU Extension and Blog website editing.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

    • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

    • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

      • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

      • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

      • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

      • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

      • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


    *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated experience editing audio and closed captions

    • Demonstrated experience editing graphics

    • Demonstrated experience with podcasts

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with OSU Branding

    • Experience using Dscript audio editing

    • Experience with YouTube and advertising on social media.

    Working Conditions/Schedule:

    • This will be a remote work position.
    • This position can begin as early as October 1, 2026.
    • Students will work about 5 hours per week, up to 20 hours per month.
