Introduction
The Police Crisis Intervention Specialist (PCIS) provides professional level mobile crisis intervention, evaluation/assessment, information and referral services for the Scottsdale Police Department. Police Crisis Intervention Specialists have a scheduled 40-hr work week, in addition to a rotating on-call to provide 24 hr. responses. This position works in collaboration with sworn and professional staff to accomplish their mission/objectives. Police Crisis Intervention Specialists frequently work independently and are expected to exercise sound decision making, aligned with best practices and in keeping with Scottsdale Police Department policies and procedures.

Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate's experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $39.61 hourly / $82,388.80 annually.

This division has a Crisis Response Canine to aid in the care and comfort of clients who have experienced traumatic events. The canine has an assigned handler; however, you will be working in close proximity with the canine, including in the office and on-scene. Do you foresee any problems with this situation?

This position requires a flexible schedule, including 4/10 or 5/8 shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation, working overtime as needed, and the ability to respond immediately to call-outs from home while on call. Scottsdale Police Crisis Intervention Specialist position requires responding to a wide range of incidents, such as violent crime scenes including domestic and sexual violence, child abuse, death notifications and hoarding situations along with situations requiring risk assessments, involuntary evaluation applications, and protective order petitions. The role may involve working with victims, suspects, defendants and their families; performing both field and office based duties; and completing hands on tasks such as providing transportation, assisting with child care, or coordinating with funeral homes.
