Police Officer 1 - First Shift (Pn: 20035190)

What you'll do at DBH:

• Performs police related duties per hospital policy as assigned by the Chief of Police.

• Secures buildings and grounds by foot or vehicle patrol as assigned by the Chief.

• Advises the public of policies related to Visitation both in-person and virtual.

• Escorts visitors to visitation area as necessary.

• Assists nursing staff during emergency codes only under the direction of the Chief and/or Police Officer 2 (PO-2).

• Completes documentation as required or assigned by the Chief.

• Assist PO-2 Officers as needed. May be required to assist, with the accompaniment of a PO-2, traffic enforcement, codes, provide security on property.

This is an hourly position covered by the State of Ohio Unit 2 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 8 on the Unit 2 Pay Range Schedule. This position is located at Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare, located at 2200 W. Broad St. Columbus, OH 43223. This position hours are first shift - 7:00AM to 3:00PM.

Position Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading & writing English vocabulary; valid driver's license. Probationary period is one year.

OR

Possession of certificate having successfully completed approved basic peace officer training program or completion of 20 yrs. active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78 (D) of Ohio revised code for developmental disabilities & mental health facility employees. Probationary period is one year. Note: Applicant must be able to successfully perform Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program (OPOTC) Fitness Testing Entry Standards for New Recruits.
