Job Duties
Responsibility / Duty
This position requires shift work (days, nights, weekends, and Holidays).
Function of Work:
To protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols/ enforcing parking and traffic regulations; rendering emergency services; investigating minor crimes and making arrests when necessary. Provide a limited range of police services.
Level of Work:
Experienced.
Duties:
Provides crowd and traffic control at special events; may be required to intervene in situations utilizing force if necessary to make an arrest, to restore order, prevent interference with normal operations or to protect person or property.

Provides foot and mobile patrols enforcing parking and traffic regulations or serve as the primary communications officer for the shift collecting/documenting information and dispatching officers as required.

Minimum Experience Required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Minimum Education Required
High School diploma or equivalent.

Test(s) Required
Applicants must have an active 2100-PSE (Protective Services Exam) score by the time the posting closes in order to be considered for the position unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy or meets one of the following testing exemptions:
1)An applicant who meets the Minimum Qualifications and has a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification from a Louisiana accredited training academy may be appointed by probational appointment or job appointment to a job which requires the Protective Services Exam without a test score. The applicant's POST certification shall not be under suspension or pending a revocation hearing
OR
2)A veteran of the armed forces who served at least 90 days of active duty for purposes other than training and who has been honorably discharged from active duty within the previous twelve months. (DD214 must be attached to application or submitted to Human Resources by fax or mail by the closing date of the announcement).
