Police Officer (Patrol) GeneralStatementof Duties: Under general supervision, protects life and property of City of Live Oak citizens and visitors by responding to 911 calls for service, gathering information, investigating traffic accidents, arresting subjects, patrolling the City, assessing the needs of victims and providing appropriate resources, and establishing a relationship with businesses and citizens. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and successful completion of Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) certification; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment: Evidence of Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer certification or currently enrolled in an accredited law enforcement academy and be within six months of graduation, or seeking to transfer from another state. A valid State driver’s license is required. Work is performed in a standard office environment and in the field and requires exposure to physical attacks, life threatening situation, hazardous chemicals, and infectious and communicable diseases. Operates a City patrol vehicle, firearm, and other weapons. Must maintain a level of physical fitness to perform essential functions. Starting Salary: $63,526 annually. Step increase after successful six-month probation. Benefits: Education Assistance, Annual Step Increases, Certification Pay up to $150 per month, Paid Vacation, Sick Leave, (12) Holidays, (1) Floating Holiday and Longevity Day, Health, Dental (DHMO Plan) and Basic Life, LTD & AD&D paid at 100% for employee along with 45% dependent coverage.
