The Department
The
Torrance Police Department is the largest law enforcement agency in the South Bay and has proudly served the community of Torrance for more than 100 years. The Department is dedicated to preserving public safety and enhancing the quality of life for residents through professional, community-oriented policing and responsive public safety services. The Department employs sworn police officers and civilian professional staff who provide a full range of law enforcement services, including patrol operations, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, emergency communications, jail operations, community outreach, crime prevention, and specialized response teams. The Department is organized into four major bureaus — Administrative, Patrol, Special Operations, and Support Services — which work collaboratively to address the evolving needs of the community.

The Division
There is currently
one vacancy for Police Services Supervisor in the
Records Unit. The Records Unit serves as the central hub for processing, managing, and preserving the Torrance Police Department’s official documents and data. This division is responsible for maintaining accurate and secure police records, including crime reports, arrest information, citations, and other critical documentation. Staff support frontline operations by providing timely information to sworn personnel, assisting the public at the counter, and responding to requests from outside agencies. The Records Unit ensures compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, oversees data entry into law enforcement databases, and upholds strict confidentiality standards. Through efficient workflow management and high-quality customer service, the Records Unit plays a vital role in supporting the mission and daily operations of the Torrance Police Department.
The PositionThe Police Services Supervisor assigned to the Records Unit oversees the daily operations and staff responsible for processing, maintaining, and releasing police records. This position provides leadership, training, and technical guidance to Records personnel; ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal mandates and departmental policies; and assists in developing procedures to enhance workflow and service delivery. The Supervisor coordinates work assignments, monitors performance, resolves operational issues, and serves as a resource to department staff, outside agencies, and the public. Responsibilities also include overseeing data entry and retrieval in criminal justice systems, ensuring timely report processing and supporting overall efficiency within the Torrance Police Department's Records Unit.
