The Position
The Park District is currently recruiting for a Police Services Technician I / II in the Police Administration Department of the Public Safety Division. This on-site position will be headquartered in Castro Valley, CA at Public Safety Headquarters. The East Bay Regional Park Districts Police Department serves over 25 million annual visitors. We are a full service POST-recognized law enforcement agency with 76 sworn officers, including Command Staff. Our department includes a variety of units and patrol opportunities such as Air Support, Marine, Equestrian, Special Enforcement (including off-road vehicles), Investigations, and a 24-hour 9-1-1 Dispatch Center. Performs a wide variety of non-sworn specialized, technical and general office duties in support of the police function. Positions in this classification may rotate to various units of the Police Department, including but not limited to Property and Evidence, Communications/Records, Personnel and Training, Support Services, Patrol Operations, Detectives, Special Enforcement, and Volunteer Trail Safety Program.
Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Police Services Technician I:
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; and
Experience: One year of responsible general office work experience which includes public contact, preferably in a public safety department or office setting; or
Substitution: 30 semester or 45 quarter units of coursework in criminal justice or related field of study may be substituted for the required one year of work experience.

Police Services Technician II:
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; and
Experience: One year as a Police Services Technician I with the East Bay Regional Park District; or
Substitution: Two years of responsible general office work experience which includes public contact, preferably in a public safety department or office setting
License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record is a condition of initial and continued employment in this classification.

Union Affiliation: The East Bay Regional Park Districts Police Association (PA) represents this classification. Wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment are covered in an agreement between the Park District and the PA. The probationary period for this classification is twelve (12) months.
Internal Promotions: Placement shall be made at the first step in the salary range for the new position (Step A) unless the salary rate at Step A of the new position is less than a 5% increase. In such instances, the employee will be placed at a step in the new salary range that ensures at least a 5% increase.
