Job Description

Policy Placement Advisor

MEDSURETY, LLC

Salary: $55,000–$65,000 base salary, based on experience, plus additional income opportunity

Job Type: Full-Time

License Required: Active Health Insurance or Health & Life Insurance Producer License in Minnesota

About MEDSURETY

MEDSURETY, LLC is a benefits administration company specializing in Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs), Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), and other account-based employee benefits.

As more employers adopt ICHRAs as an alternative to traditional group health insurance, MEDSURETY provides both the technology and personal support needed to make the experience successful for employers and their employees.

A critical part of that experience is helping employees understand their ICHRA benefit and confidently select and enroll in an individual medical insurance policy.

Position Summary

MEDSURETY is seeking a Policy Placement Advisor to help employees of our employer clients review, compare, select, and enroll in individual medical insurance coverage as part of their employer-sponsored ICHRA benefit.

This is a licensed, employee-facing advisory role focused on making what can be a complicated insurance decision simple and understandable.

As a Policy Placement Advisor, you will work directly with employees and their families to understand their healthcare coverage needs, explain available individual medical plans, compare costs and benefits, and guide them through the enrollment process.

This is not a traditional cold-calling insurance sales position. MEDSURETY's employer clients have already chosen us to administer their ICHRA plans, creating a population of employees who need assistance obtaining individual medical coverage.

Your job is to become their trusted advisor throughout that process.

What You'll Do

  • Work directly with employees of MEDSURETY's ICHRA employer clients to help them understand their health insurance options.
  • Explain how an employee's ICHRA benefit works with an individual medical insurance policy.
  • Conduct employee consultations by phone, video, and other communication channels.
  • Learn about each employee's healthcare needs, including family coverage requirements, preferred doctors and hospitals, prescription medications, anticipated healthcare usage, and budget considerations.
  • Help employees review and compare available individual medical insurance plans.
  • Explain important plan differences, including premiums, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, provider networks, prescription coverage, and plan types.
  • Provide knowledgeable, objective guidance to help employees select coverage appropriate for their individual circumstances.
  • Guide employees through the application and enrollment process from initial consultation through completed enrollment.
  • Assist with enrollment through applicable insurance marketplaces, carrier systems, and approved enrollment platforms.
  • Educate employees about ACA-compliant individual health insurance, enrollment periods, qualifying life events, and other applicable requirements.
  • Help employees understand the relationship between their employer's ICHRA contribution and individual insurance premiums, including the potential interaction with premium tax credits when applicable.
  • Verify enrollment information and help ensure all necessary steps are completed for coverage to become effective.
  • Support employees during new-hire enrollment, annual open enrollment, qualifying life events, and policy renewals.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee interactions, plan selections, and enrollment progress within MEDSURETY's systems and CRM.
  • Follow up with employees who have not completed their enrollment to help ensure they do not miss important deadlines.
  • Coordinate with MEDSURETY's ICHRA administration and customer service teams when employee issues require additional assistance.
  • Maintain all required insurance licenses and continuing education.
  • Stay current on individual health insurance products, carrier offerings, marketplace changes, ACA requirements, and ICHRA-related regulations.

Compensation & Growth Opportunity

The base salary for this position is $55,000–$65,000 per year, based on experience, licensing, qualifications, and individual health insurance knowledge.

In addition to base salary, this position offers the opportunity for income to grow as your book of business grows.

As MEDSURETY adds new ICHRA employer clients, our Policy Placement Advisors will support an increasing number of employees who need assistance selecting and enrolling in individual medical insurance coverage. Advisors will have the opportunity to develop and manage their own growing book of business based on MEDSURETY's ICHRA client volume.

This creates an opportunity to build a long-term career where your earning potential can increase alongside the number of employees and policies you support.

Rather than relying on traditional cold calling or prospecting to build a book of business, your growth is supported by MEDSURETY's continued expansion in the ICHRA market.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Health Insurance or Health & Life Insurance Producer License in Minnesota.
  • Experience with individual and family health insurance, including plan comparison, recommendations, and/or enrollment.
  • Strong understanding of health insurance terminology and plan design, including premiums, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, provider networks, formularies, and plan types.
  • Ability to explain complicated insurance concepts in a clear, conversational way.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with employees and families by phone and video.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple employee cases and enrollment deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with eligibility, enrollment, and insurance information.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, insurance carrier portals, online enrollment platforms, and other technology.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the broader MEDSURETY team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience assisting consumers with ACA individual and family health insurance plans.
  • Familiarity with MNsure and Minnesota's individual health insurance marketplace.
  • Previous experience as a health insurance agent, broker, benefits advisor, enrollment specialist, or similar position.
  • Experience with ICHRA plans or other employer-sponsored health benefits.
  • Experience working with multiple insurance carriers and comparing individual medical plan options.
  • Experience managing a book of health insurance business.
  • Experience supporting consumers during high-volume open enrollment periods.
  • Additional state health insurance licenses or willingness to obtain additional licenses as MEDSURETY expands into new markets.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal Policy Placement Advisor enjoys helping people make important decisions.

Many of the employees you work with may be purchasing an individual health insurance policy for the first time. They may not understand the difference between a deductible and an out-of-pocket maximum, know whether their doctor participates in a particular network, or understand how their employer's ICHRA contribution affects what they will pay.

Your role is to make that process easier.

We're looking for someone who is:

Consultative. You ask questions, listen carefully, and help employees evaluate their options rather than simply selling them a policy.

Service-oriented. You take ownership of the employee experience and want to see each person successfully complete their enrollment.

Knowledgeable. You understand individual health insurance and are comfortable comparing and explaining different coverage options.

Patient and approachable. You can explain insurance in plain language without making employees feel overwhelmed.

Organized. You can manage a growing book of employees while keeping track of applications, follow-ups, deadlines, and outstanding enrollment requirements.

Motivated by growth. You are excited by the opportunity to build a book of business and increase your income as MEDSURETY's ICHRA client base grows.

Comfortable with technology. You can efficiently navigate multiple carrier systems, enrollment platforms, CRM tools, and MEDSURETY technology.

Why Join MEDSURETY?

ICHRA is changing how employers provide health insurance benefits.

Instead of selecting one group health plan for their entire workforce, employers can provide employees with an allowance that employees use toward purchasing their own individual health insurance coverage.

That flexibility creates an important need for knowledgeable professionals who can help employees navigate the individual insurance market.

As a Policy Placement Advisor at MEDSURETY, you'll be at the center of that experience.

You'll have the opportunity to help employees make one of their most important financial and healthcare decisions while building a growing book of business supported by MEDSURETY's expanding ICHRA client base.

If you're a licensed health insurance professional who enjoys helping people, understands individual medical insurance, and wants an opportunity where your income and career can grow along with the business, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today to join MEDSURETY as a Policy Placement Advisor.
