JOB SPECIFICATION
Core Function:
Under the supervision of the Fleet and Facilities Supervisor, the Pool Attendant & Lifeguard is responsible for the safety of visitors to our Pool facility. You will be required to explain the safety rules to guests as well as enforce policies on the safe use of the facilities. Additionally, you will play an instrumental role in maintaining orderliness by inspecting swimming pool areas, shower areas, restrooms, and pump rooms. You will maintain pool equipment, safety equipment, safety signage and monitor and record pool cleaning and maintenance information.

Education and Experience: (Minimum Requirements)
  • At least four (4) CXC subjects, including English
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a similar position
  • AED, First Aid and CPR training and/or certification
  • Lifeguard certification

Main Job Functions
  • Always represent Chukka professionally.
  • Conduct oneself consistent according to the policies and procedures of the company.
  • Ensure that you’re properly groomed and neatly always attired in the company uniform.
  • Carryout daily functions according to the trained SOP consistently to ensure a smooth and efficient flow.
  • Monitoring pool chemistry levels to ensure that they are within safe limits of chemical elements such as chlorine and pH levels.
  • Manage the swimming pool cleaning schedule and perform daily inspections.
  • Ensure the pool deck is swept and watered down and that all furniture is in the correct place.
  • Perform cleaning duties, general maintenance, and daily set up and break down of pool furniture and/or equipment.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
  • Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of guests.
  • Recommend the removal of anyone from the pool area for continuous safety breaches or concerns about anyone who fails to meet the minimum requirements to use the facility.
  • Responds to Emergencies by following SOP protocols by performing rescues, administering first-aid and CPR/O2/AED as needed. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services arrives.
  • Identify and report any defects, hazards, equipment or processes that can negatively affect the operations.
  • Complete accurately all incidents and accidents reports. Information must be communicated to the Fleet & Facilities Supervisor or HSSE Officer immediately.
  • Test and adjust water chemistry; interpret gauges, flow meters, and monitoring equipment as trained.
  • Maintain operational and recirculation efficiency of various filters and pool systems.
  • Maintain pool chemicals and preventive maintenance logs for the pool.
  • Minimize hazards to all participants as well as staff and faculty by understanding and utilizing the requirements of proper chemical storage, usage, and handling.
  • Inspect the pool and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisor.
  • Ensure to report any equipment failure, malfunction & breakdowns.
  • Recommend the temporary closure of pool for any major security concern for safety reasons.
  • Be willing to assist with repairs and maintenance of pool area and infrastructure.
  • Assist with periodic inventory of resources and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports (e.g.: maintenance logs, usage reports, sign in sheets).
  • Ensure that the pool area and facilities are clean and free of litter to enhance the attractiveness of the site.
  • Conform to all safety practices that are put in place.
  • Conduct the tour operations in accordance with the environmental policy of the organization.
  • Maintain a harmonious team spirit among team members by maintaining friendliness, professionalism and adherence to company vision and values.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Attend and participate in monthly evaluations and training.
  • Must maintain certifications for duration of employment and uphold the standards and expectations.
  • Effectively carry out all other assigned duties from time to time by your supervisor or manager.
  • Ensure to participate in the daily huddle (briefing) with department team discussing plans for the day ahead.
  • Ensure that you are properly groomed in the company uniform at all times.
  • Ensure to advise your supervisor if you feel unfit for duty at any time.
