Summary
The Pool Manager, under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, is responsible for the safe operations and supervision of City swimming pools. This leadership role provides technical assistance to aquatics team and enforces aquatics facility rules, policies, and procedures. Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays. This is a part-time position at the aquatics division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises and manages the daily pool operations; maintains clean and safe facility
Assists in planning, training, evaluating lifeguards and monitors pool programming
Generates and implements schedules, lifeguard rotation, and daily assignments
Monitors activities and ensures lifeguards observe swimmers, inspect equipment, and pool area is properly maintained/cleaned
Provides instructions and prevents accidents in the aquatic's facilities
Manages pump room procedures including chemical readings, balancing and filtration
Hyper-chlorinates pool water when there is an incident
Inspects facility regularly and reports immediately any unsafe conditions/equipment
Monitors safety guidelines and ensures proper rescue techniques are performed
Manages first aid or CPR according to prescribed procedures, notifying emergency medical personnel when necessary
Assists with front desk operation and transactions
Performs safety inspections and basic maintenance to ensure the pool and surrounding areas are clean and safe
Uses RecTrac for daily attendance and maintains financial and operating records/reports
Manages routine disciplinary issues, documents incidents, and communicates each to the supervisor
Assists with special recreational activities such as athletic events, instructional programs, special projects
Leads in-service training bi-monthly, ensuring staff remains up to date on rescue skills, response times, and facility EAPs
Drives between designated aquatics facilities
Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Two summer seasons of experience as a lifeguard
One summer of experience in an Assistant Manager role
Knowledge of water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment
Pass swimming skills test and basic water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment test
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English & Spanish
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
Valid driver's license
Current certification with American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aide
