    Port Engineer

    Job Summary
    We are seeking an experienced Port Engineer to support ocean-going vessel maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities within the U.S. commercial maritime industry. This remote role is responsible for managing complex shipyard projects, developing work specifications and cost estimates, administering contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance and effective vessel management. An active Secret Security Clearance-or the ability to obtain a government-issued security clearance-is required.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage and negotiate complex projects, including shipyard dry dock overhauls and other vessel repairs
    • Negotiate and administer contracts for ship construction or overhaul, including preparation of contract work specifications
    • Develop cost estimates for repair, overhaul, conversion, or construction of ocean-going ships
    • Understand overhaul requirements and support the preparation of work specifications and cost estimates for vessel repair, overhaul, conversion, or construction
    • Support regulatory compliance and vessel management activities

    Requirements
     

    • 5+ years of experience in the U.S. commercial maritime industry in a shore-side or shipboard engineering role
    • Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain a government-issued security clearance
    • 3+ years as a Port Engineer, including management of at least two shipyard dry-docking availabilities valued at $3M+ per availability
    • 4+ years serving aboard Government or commercial ocean-going ships (not less than 4,000 HP) as a Chief Engineer or First Assistant Engineer, with demonstrated maintenance and repair management experience
    • 5+ years combined education and experience demonstrating ability to manage and negotiate complex shipyard dry dock overhauls and repairs on ocean-going ships, including one or more of the following:
      • Engineering-related degree (Marine Engineering, Marine Architecture, Mechanical Engineering)
      • Shipyard management experience
      • Port Engineer experience on a Government or commercial contract
      • Active Duty military experience performing duties substantially the same as a Port Engineer
    • Experience supporting ship conversion or new construction efforts (Preferred)
    • Additional depth in contract specification development and cost estimating for major overhauls (Preferred)
