The role:
Within the Vale of Leven Hospital, the Portering Department provides an essential support service to the clinical wards and departments. Transferring in and out patients throughout the 107-bed site, transportation of all patient meals and laundry, internal mail deliveries, internal waste collection (clinical and domestic & confidential ) and disposal. Collection and delivery of bloods and specimens to all laboratories, ward and departments, internal pharmacy deliveries and medical records support.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Location: Vale of Leven Hospital
Work Pattern: Various shift patterns. Specific working hours will be discussed at interview.
Hours: 12 hours per week
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.
Key responsibilities:
You will provide a comprehensive portering service across Vale of Leven Hospital, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients, equipment, and materials throughout the site. Duties include waste collection and disposal runs, blood runs, collecting and transporting confidential waste, patient movement, mail deliveries, and undertaking other ad hoc portering duties as required.
You will work within clearly defined protocols, procedures, and schedules, adhering to all Board policies, including Health & Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and Confidentiality requirements. The role involves working as part of the wider Support Services team and contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of hospital services.
