    Job Overview

    As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (COM) has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. In partnership with the UC Health academic healthcare system and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, College of Medicine's faculty are transforming the world of medicine every day. The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.

    A full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Immunotoxicology laboratory of Jagjit Yadav, PhD, at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. The position is focused on immunology research to understand mechanisms of inflammation underlying hepatotoxicity/immunotoxicity and disease development. The focus is to understand mitochondria-toxicant interactions to investigate activation of inflammatory/fibrogenic pathways, using cell and animal models. The cellular models will involve use of in-vitro and ex-vivo cultures/co-cultures of structural/metabolic/immune cells as well as human organoids.

    Essential Functions

    • Conduct research experiments on inflammatory/fibrogenic mechanisms underlying interactions between immune cells and hepatic cells in response to dietary and toxic chemical/PFAS exposures.
    • Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas in the use of immunological and molecular techniques, including but not limited to gene expression analysis, Western blot, reporter assays, Luminex, cell transfection, Immunophenotyping, flow cytometry, single-cell analysis, Seahorse analysis, lipidomics, among other cutting-edge approaches.
    • Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and other presentations of research results.
    • Contribute to manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
    • Keep informed of developments in the field of mitochondria-toxicant interactions to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
    • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
    • Play an active role in seeking career and research advice from the faculty supervisor and other faculty members.
    • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Prior to effective date of appointment a doctoral degree in immunology, molecular toxicology, or a related branch of life sciences.

    Additional Qualifications Considered

    • Prior experience in immunological and molecular/signaling techniques
    • Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience.
