Posting Summary Entry-level postdoc position available for NIH-funded laboratory in the Department of Genetics at Rutgers. The laboratory research uses mouse systems to study processes relevant to human reproduction using genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and microscopy/imagining. A qualified candidate will be capable of working independently to perform lab work in this area but also manages, trains, and schedules hourly student workers and undergraduate research assistants in various protocols and laboratory operations and procedures. Communicates with the PI in reviewing project performance status and deadlines on an ongoing basis. Performs independent data review and reporting for all routine existing and future research. Responsible for maintaining an accurate and detailed lab notebook, conducting genetic cell and molecular biology experiments, and overseeing undergraduate research projects.
Standard laboratory work include:
• Recombinant DNA techniques • Phenotypic analysis • Epifluorescence microscopy • Confocal microscopy • High throughput genomics • Mouse handling • Oocyte manipulation • Mouse genetic analysis
This position will require presentations of data, making figures, and drafting manuscripts.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience PHD degree in life sciences required. Requires minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in a research laboratory, excellent communication skills, and excellent computer literacy.
This research over a large span of life science topics and technical approaches including genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, gamete biology, molecular biology, and microscopy.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred Qualifications PHD in life sciences. Experience with high resolution imaging and basic molecular biology techniques.
Equipment Utilized Must be familiar with:
• Microsoft Office • Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator • Prism
Must be familiar with gel electrophoresis, RNA isolation systems, PCR machines, autoclaves, Apple computers, Windows PCs, electrophoresis equipment, and image analysis software such as Image J.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Able to stand, lift, bend. Able to occasionally lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Able to reach and grasp with arms and hands. Work involves possible exposure to malodorous vapors and toxic chemicals. Long periods of standing and/or sitting.
