    The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) brings together more than four decades of innovative and life-saving research on vaccines and infectious diseases. The Tran Lab is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Fellow.

    Primary Duties

    Develop human endothelial cell models for studying IgG recycling, catabolism, and transcytosis in the context of malaria immunology.

    Develop and optimize 2D and 3D endothelial-based assays to evaluate molecular modifiers of IgG handling and to investigate mechanisms that influence antibody persistence and transport.

    Analyze and interpret experimental data and maintain accurate laboratory records.

    Prepare manuscripts, figures, presentations, and contribute to grant applications.

    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the laboratory and with external collaborators.

    Mentor graduate students, research technicians, and junior trainees when appropriate.

    Participate in laboratory meetings, project discussions, and scientific presentations.

    Maintain compliance with institutional biosafety, animal care, and research regulations.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

    • Demonstrated experience with human endothelial cell culture.

    • Strong experience with fluorescence and/or confocal microscopy.

    • Publication record reflecting substantive endothelial cell culture work.

    • Evidence of independent scientific writing and development of original ideas during graduate training or previous position.

    Preferred Experience

    Candidates with experience in flow cytometry, single-cell analysis, quantitative imaging, and routine use of R or Python for data analysis and visualization will be especially competitive.

    The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, scientific independence, and an interest in developing rigorous experimental systems within a collaborative malaria immunology research environment.
